Maha Shivaratri was celebrated at the Mandir on March 9, 2013
Several devotees gathered for Puja and Abhishek for Shiva. Following the tradition that has been established for this festival at the Mandir, Sri Rudram and Chamakam were chanted, led by Srinath Gopalakrishna, V. Ramachandran, and H.R. Chandrasekhar. The recitation of Purusha Suktam was led by Hema Srinivasan, Anandhi Upendran, Shivasankalp, and Kala Kumar. Durga Suktam, Panchaksharam, Bilvashtakam, Lingashtaka, Nandi Prayer, Shiva Ashtotram, Mantra Pushpam and Shiva Gayatri/Aarti were recited.
During the entire proceedings abhisekh of milk, honey, ghee, yogurt and water was conducted by N. Srikanta, ably helped by Saathvik and attendees. Several attendees joined in the recitation of prayers during the puja.
Following the prayers, prasad was shared.
