Sri Maha Sudarshana Homam was celebrated at Shanthi Mandir, on Saturday April 12 , 2014 from 9 am to 2 pm.
The Homam was conducted by “Sudarshana Sreeman” S. Venkatesa Iyengar Swami, who has organized more than 1008 Sri Sudarshana Homam over the past 20 years in 18 countries (www.srisudarshana.org). He conducted a very inspiring Homam, engaging the audience with his questions and commentary, and explaining the significance of the various parts of the Homam. The events concluded with Abhisekh, Arthi, and Prasad (lunch).
Sri Sudarshana Homam is a powerful Homam that is performed to eradicate all the negative effects in our life. Sudarshana is the name of the Chakram (Discus) in the hand of Sri Maha Vishnu. As such, the Chakram itself is so auspicious and divine that in every temple we have a sannidhi for Sri Sudarsana. During Sudarshana Homam Sri Shiva, Sri Durga, Sri Narsimha and Sri Krishna are all collectively worshipped and so it is believed that one Sudarshana Homam will bestow benefits of doing many other Homams.
S. Venkatesa Iyengar Swami will also conduct a spiritual discourse on the Bhagawad Gita on Sunday April 13.
