Raagas of Columbia and the Cultural Programs of HTCC presented a Classical Music Concert featuring Kumari Supriya Balaji (Vocal), Sri Shiva Sankalp (Violin) and Sri Shiva Murthy (Mridangam) on August 31st, Saturday, from 5- 7 pm. Supriya is a graduate student in Biological Engineering at MU, Sankalp works at the College of Education at MU and Shiva Murthy works in Kansas City. An intimate crowd of about 50 people attended the concert.
The three musicians presented an outstanding concert featuring Carnatic and Hindustani kritis in a variety of languages – Sanskrit, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi and Telugu. The concert began with a Varnam in Raga Abhogi, which was followed by the following items:

We are indeed fortunate to have such talented musicians among us in Columbia and Kansas City. We hope they will visit the temple and present another concert in the near future.
