Please help our youth help the less fortunate in Columbia
The HTCC Service Programs Committee along with Bal Sabha and Bal Puja youth are undertaking the annual service project Sharing the Warmth to help out fellow Columbians by arranging for donation of winter clothing and related accessories. We will donate the adult and youth items to Public Schools of Columbia, MO which further assist needy students, Refugee Services of Columbia, MO which assists refugee and non-refugee immigrants and children’s items to CoMoCares which assists parents with small children. All these organizations serve Columbia community with excellent social service.
The youth team plans to collect, sort, clean and donate winter jackets, gloves, caps, winter shoes, socks, and blankets from the Mandir community and their friends as a part of Sharing the Warmth project. Most of us we are sure have one or more of these items in our closets – that are not currently being used and are in good condition for donation. On behalf of our Service Programs committee, we would request you to go through your closets and identify items in good condition that could be donated. The team will accept all sizes (adult and children’s sizes). In the next few days you will receive calls from one or more of our youth to check with you if you could help us out with donations for this project. Youth and adult helpers will at the Mandir on to receive dropped-off clothing and to sort and pack the clothing for donation on
Saturday, November 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and
Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
On a very limited basis, we may also be able to pick up the items from your home (service intended primarily for the elderly). In case you would like us pick up your donation, please send a return mail to this address with details (items for donation, a contact telephone number and convenient times for pick-up – please provide 2-3 times between now and November 23).
