CROP Walk 2012

Hindu Temple Helping Hands raised $625 for the CROP Hunger Walk/Run 2012 on October 10, 2012. We had 6 runners in the 5K run and 16 walkers at the event making it one of the largest groups at this year’s CROP Walk/Run. Congrats to Suryanshi and Pal who placed second in the under 18 girls and 50+ mens groups, respectively in the 5K Run. We are also proud of our youngsters Akhilan, Vishnu, Ashwath, Kavin, Nila, Suryanshi and Aarti who spared their Saturday afternoon and braved the nippy weather to participate in the walk/run. This the fifth year we have participated in the CROP Hunger Walk.

The goal of the walk/run is to raise approximately $20,000 to overcome hunger in Columbia and around the world. Twenty-five percent of funds raised are designated for these local agencies: Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen, Russell Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Food Pantry, Latter House Kingdom Ministries Food Pantry, and Fifth Street Christian Community Meal. Seventy-five percent of the funds are designated for worldwide ministries of the Church World Service, including the ministries in the U.S. such as Joplin, MO., and areas affected by the recent hurricane, Isaac.
